There are 13 computerized Haemodialysis machines with facility for Bicarbonate Dialysis at Nagpur facility.
These units are monitored closely by various Monthly Information Sheets and Daily Technician Reports.
Morbidity in patients is monitored per month with specific focus on rigors, fever, accuracy of weight loss, etc.
The technicians report daily by sending the data online for checking by the supervisor. Any discrepancies are discussed and appropriate corrective and preventive actions are taken.
Regular monitoring of quality of water used is done as per AAMI (American Association of Medical Instrumentation) criteria. (Water is treated using RO plant)
All dialysis technicians undergo Induction program and orientation after which they are trained as per Core Curriculum for Haemodialysis technicians (United States). The technicians are then evaluated by a team of Nephrologists. A regular performance appraisal is done annually. Regular training programs are designed to impart continuing education to the technicians.All technicians are certified by the 1 year Certificate course or 2 years Diploma course by MSBTE, or 6 months Dialysis Technician Assistant course run under the aegis of Rashtra Sant Tukdoji Maharaj University Nagpur.
The patients are counseled by the technicians on various aspects including diet, medications prescribed by the Physician. Books are provided for the patients for increasing awareness and knowledge. Patients are counseled using Kidney School which is an online distance learning program for chronic kidney disease patients.
The patients are encouraged to give feedback and discuss various issues in get togethers held regularly. These are designed as breakfast meetings and games are conducted for positive reinforcement of wanted behaviour with Dietetic counseling and demonstration of Physical exercise program for patients.
Water is treated using an elaborate water treatment plant including RO unit, UV micron filters, cation, anion, sand filters, antiscalants and softner, sediment filter and sediment filters
Thus a holistic approach to patients and their treatment is used.

Hemodialysis sessions need close monitoring. Complications can arise during a session that need to be handled immediately and deftly. Not doing so can have dangerous consequences. The team that looks after you during your dialysis session at AKDC is fully certified in Hemodialysis and has years of experience in handling such situations. They all undergo hours of rigorous training after joining AKDC to learn the way we do things and our unique processes before they are inducted into any center.
Dialysers are reused as per standard international guidelines. We have state of the art reprocessing machines for this and make sure that we follow Key Performance Indicators like Fibre bundle volume for deciding on the number of reuses allowable.
We take special care to segregate hepatitis C positive patients for dialysis. We have dedicated areas for these patients on a separate floor from seronegative patients. Even the reuse areas and reprocessing machines for dialyser reuse are separate. So also is the staff deputed for your care.
The hospital also runs an active Continuous Ambulatory Peritoneal Dialysis (CAPD) programme. This modality of Renal Replacement Therapy does not require any machine. This modality is best suited for diabetic patients and those who stay far away from the dialysis centre.
There is a regular Post Renal Transplant Follow-up Clinic to monitor Post Transplant graft function and other system status.

Billing & PaymentsHospital OPD charges are to be paid to hospital billing counter. You will be provided with a receipt for all monetary transactions.
The hospital OPD consultation charge is Rs. 1300/- for new patients.
The charges for follow-up consultation is Rs. 700/- per visit.
Payments/Deposit for indoor admissions are accepted in cash and through RTGS (for bank details contact the billing department). We do not accept cheque payments.
Payments are also accepted by Credit or Debit cards through an mpos facility.

Planned admission cases are required to pay deposit amount within 6 hours of admission.
4.2 During Admission :General hospital consent will be taken which will be valid throughout the admission duration of general hospitalization. Special consents will be required as per procedures.
4.3 After Admission :The charge of the bed is billed at the end of each day. Check in time is flexible
Day care Patient will be kept under observation for a maximum of 6 hrs, after which he will either be admitted as regular patient or discharged.
Transfers of the class of accommodation will be based on the availability only.
4.4 Billing & Payments :The billing department functions on all week days round the clock
Charges of room rent, nursing & doctor fees will vary according to the room category.
Specialist visit other than the nephrologist will be charged on a per day basis.
No billing queries will be entertained after 30 days from date of discharge
4.5 Discharge :Discharges are processed round the clock in the hospital.
Discharge of patient will be authorized as per the doctor's opinion.
You are required to complete the discharge formalities and payments within 3 hours and vacate the bed.
On receipt of request and discharge papers the billing department prepares the bill. On Completion of the final bill the billing department informs the patient Room for final settlement.
Relative has to approach the discharge counter for final settlement.
4.6 General Information :Smoking, consumption of alcohol is not permitted in the hospital premises
Mobile phones are not permitted in restricted areas of the hospital viz, ICU, HD.
Photography is prohibited in hospital premises
All medicines, consumables etc for the patient will be provided by the hospital, no outside medicine or consumables are permitted to be brought
Patients are advised not to carry cash or wear or keep any jewellery during their hospitalization. The hospital is not responsible for any kind of loss.

The laboratory has a turn-around time of 1.5 hours for routine tests including complete hemogram, kidney function tests and urine routine with protein creatinine ratio. Some tests are outsourced and these reports may be given on arrival. Special tests like urine protein creatinine ratio, urine calcium creatinine ratio, eGFR by MDRD formula and serum bicarbonate are done here. All tests are done by fully automated instruments. The laboratory has an active quality assurance program consisting of internal quality checks and external quality assurance schemes like CMC and AIIMs EQAS programs.
Pharmacy at AKDC is located on the third floor of the building. Stringent quality control ensures that medicines at the shop are completely updated and are of highest quality. It stores enough drugs so that necessary drugs are available at all the times. Since we house most of the major drugs necessary in the medical treatment, the patients and their relatives have easy accessibility to the required drugs any time.
Our hospital pharmacy has all medicines, which are authentic and stored as per required standards.
Our pharmacy is staffed only by registered pharmacist. The pharmacy is open throughout week (9am- 7:30pm)
